Dance Lazarus Dance!

There's something so incongruous about the idea of remixing Nick Cave. When I think of him, I think of many things, but the dancefloor ain't one of them, which is why the (fairly) recent versions by Midfield General and Adam Freeland among others amuse me so. Given the primal and lascivious nature of the song, taking it to the dancefloor makes a kind of sense, at least to me.

I'm not the most danceflooracious dude, and most dance music is like kryptonite to me, but I love this song and this version is pretty good - funky and dark in the right ways.
But I only clicked the clicky coz it was called Midfield General remix. The football terminology stirred something in me. Its sad.

That is a bit sad, but at least you clicked. I'll be raiding my itunes library now to find other football related artists. Any suggestions?

St Etienne? Keane? Rooney? I can't think of many. I always thought it cool that there was an English band named after St Etienne and a French band named after Aston Villa.

If I was a DJ, I would pick some football-related name. Playmaker too obvious though. Enganche? Libero? Fox in the box? Wing-wizard? Something a bit crap but also a bit great.

Kaiser Chiefs?

I have the misfortune to have Sky's commentary on games here, which means I get to hear all the clichés. My favourite at the moment is Dean Sturridges obsession with the phrase 'Johnny On The Spot'. Horrible.
