I Love, You Love, We Love Talking Heads

We all love Talking Heads. We have to. They were the perfect combination of intelligence, fun, dance, art, rhythm, punk, funk, and pop. My perfect band. I have loads of rarities to post in the coming weeks. Here's the first:

Talking Heads - Love Is All Around (live at Jabberwocky, Syracuse, 26/01/77) (Open in a new window to download)

Better than the Wet Wet Wet version?

Which of the greatest hits albums should I buy?!!! Hahhahahaha - see how I can mock myself?...only getting in there before you do!

But seriously....I kinda like the Talking Heads, although I fear it could be like when I bought the Best of Roxy Music and I only liked a couple of songs! I understand that 'Fear of Music' is one of their revered albums....is it a good starter?

speaking as someone who favours talking heads over oxygen, it's difficult to for me to choose. I wouldn't recommend fear of music first, as genius as it is. i would suggest the first album 77 (cos its got psycho killer on it and everyone loves that), or remain in light (cos its got once in a lifetime on it and everyone and there mum loves that) or speaking in tongues (cos its my favourite).

roxy music released 2 great albums and then brian eno left, and they were not as good. a couple of years later eno produced 3 of the 4 best talking heads albums. say no more.

Thanks for the low-down....I have added those beauties to my amazon wishlist for future purchase.

I see that Speaking in Tongues has a cover of the world-famous Tom Jones hit, 'Burning down the house' - how novel ;-)
